Sep 3, Day 1: Arrival in Dubrovnik
Arrive, settle in, and we’ll meet for a welcome dinner and workshop briefing. After dinner, head straight out for our first sunset shoot looking over the illuminated rooftops of Old Town — a perfect introduction to what lies ahead.
Sep 4, Day 2: Dubrovnik Old Town
An early alarm is well worth it — we’ll be in the cobblestone alleys before the crowds arrive, working the textures, arches, and architecture in that gorgeous morning light. Rest in the afternoon, then back out for sunset from the city walls.
Sep 5, Day 3 : Day trip to Montenegro
We cross into Montenegro for the day — photographing the island church of Our Lady of the Rocks in Perast, wandering the medieval lanes of Kotor, and ending with a glowing sunset over the Bay of Kotor before returning to Dubrovnik.
Sep 6, Day 4 : Coastal drive to Plitvice
We leave Dubrovnik and wind our way up the Adriatic coast — one of the most scenic drives in all of Europe. Multiple photo stops including Rastoke along the way, and arrive at Plitvice Lake
Sep 7, Day 5 : Plitvice Lakes National Park
Early entry lets us experience the lakes and cascading waterfalls before the crowds arrive. We’ll spend the full day here — this is one of the most photogenic UNESCO sites in the world, and we won’t rush it. I’ll walk you through long exposure techniques and compositional choices throughout the day.
Sep 8, Day 6: Plitvice to Ljubljana
We cross into Slovenia and arrive in Ljubljana in time for the blue hour — the city’s bridges, castle, and riverside cafés glow beautifully in that transitional light. Then we drive on to Lake Bled to wake up for one of the most iconic sunrises in Europe.
Sep 9, Day 7: Lake Bled
Sunrise from the classic viewpoints overlooking the island church and its mirror-like reflections. We’ll spend the morning exploring different perspectives around the lake, followed by an afternoon editing session where I’ll work through your images with you.
Sep 10, Day 8: Lake Bled to Budapest — The Scenic Route
We leave Slovenia at dawn and drive northeast into Hungary with cameras in hand — stopping first at Festetics Palace in Keszthely (the “Hungarian Versailles”) for morning light on Baroque facades and manicured gardens, then along the northern shore of Lake Balaton for vineyard and sailboat panoramas, then up to the Tihany Peninsula where a hilltop Benedictine Abbey overlooks the entire lake in golden afternoon light. A final quick shoot at Koronázó Square in Székesfehérvár — Hungary’s ancient royal capital — and we roll into Budapest in time for dinner.
Sep 11, Day 9: Budapest
A full day in one of Europe’s most photogenic capitals. We’ll start at the Fisherman’s Bastion and Matthias Church at sunrise before the tourists arrive, with sweeping views across the Danube to the Parliament building. From there we work our way through the Chain Bridge, the Hungarian Parliament, and the grand boulevards of Pest. Late afternoon we’ll find spots along the riverbank for the blue hour — when Budapest’s bridges and landmarks reflect in the Danube and the city truly earns its reputation as the “Pearl of the Danube.” A farewell dinner rounds out the evening — a proper send-off for the group.
Sep 12, Day 10: Departure from Budapest
Time to head home — with a memory card full of images from Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, and now Hungary. Safe travels, and I can’t wait to see what you created on this trip.
